ECLECTIC INTERIORS - EXTRAVAGANT INTERIORS

We have been designing interiors for many years. Minimalist, stylish, art deco interiors… However, the biggest challenge are eclectic interiors. Interiors that combine opposites

An eclectic interior is a specific juggling of motifs borrowed from the past and the present. Historical elements blend with modern technologies. Elaborate details with simple forms. Elegance with a touch of extravagance. Humor and kitsch are some of the eclectic ways of artistic expression that break the stale conventions of stylish and historical interiors.

In the example below, we have a project of a stone kitchen in a classic interior of a historic tenement house. Neo-Baroque stucco painted in black serves as a background for a minimalist marble island, a unique modern pendant lamp, and art – an enlarged oil painting by one of the Renaissance masters. However, the main actor here is an extravagant armchair made of a giant plush elephant.

Extravagant interior is often eclectic, and vice versa. Another example are eclectic dining rooms – both located in XIX century historic tenements. Extravagant chairs and lamps are humorous accents in these classical settings.

Extravagant combination of avant-garde art with design classics, classicist stuccoes, and contemporary lighting. This mix can be seen in another project – an eclectic home office. One could say – a typical workplace in the era of the coronavirus pandemic.

The latest project presents a real explosive mixture – an eclectic loft in former military barracks. An extravagant investor needs an extravagant interior that will best reflect his unique personality. And this interior has it all. Carved ceilings reflecting in antique mirrors. Rococo frames of paintings and mirrors, neobaroque and classicizing stuccowork, minimalist comfortable sofas, a table and chairs from the 1930s, exotic plants… Classical columns have been subjected to destruction here. The upper floor of this eclectic loft is bathed in indigo and reddish ochre colors. Everything is seasoned with a spicy sauce consisting of works of art – paintings, photographs, and sculptures with a slightly playful and controversial theme. And above it all, the general of the Bolshevik army watches over it all with Mickey Mouse.

“Design something with a WOW effect for us!” – we often hear similar requests from various investors. It is a desire for that pinch of spiciness, which is needed in everyday life to prevent it from becoming boring and predictable like the daily edition of “Events” on TVP (Polish public television).
